Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

1864-1901
Albi, France

Recognized as one of the most famous Post-impressionists.
He created posters, paintings, oil pastel drawings, illustrations, posters, and prints.

He was born an only child from a noble family. Since blood had to remain "pure" in the family line, incest with cousins was the norm. Naturally, Toulouse-Lautrec was born with a few defects, mainly problems with his growth. His short stature led him to become an alcoholic, which in turn killed him at the age of only 37. His mother promoted his art even after his death and gathered funds to have constructed an entire museum dedicated to him. It stands in his hometown in France and holds most of his works.
